Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow is ready to continue negotiations with Ukraine and allows for the possibility of a summit that, in his words, "should put a full stop to this process", according to Russian media.

According to Lavrov, the idea emerged after a phone call between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.

Lavrov noted that the Kremlin proposes raising the level of delegation representation and placing not only military and humanitarian issues on the agenda, but also "political aspects of settlement."

"But since President Trump responded positively to this idea, we expect that he will explain it to Kyiv representatives, and we will receive a reaction," Lavrov said.

At the same time, he stressed that top-level meetings require thorough preparation so that "summits do not worsen the situation, but truly put an end to the negotiations we are ready to continue."

Possible Ukraine-Russia summit

Russia has not abandoned talks with Ukraine but puts forward its own conditions. Any contacts involving top leaders must be prepared as thoroughly as possible.

In addition, US President Donald Trump called Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss holding negotiations with President Zelenskyy. Moscow insists on holding a bilateral meeting first.
