In the early hours of February 8, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the city of Sumy. One of the enemy UAVs struck a private house, causing a fire that has since been extinguished, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service's Telegram channel and the Facebook page of the Sumy Regional Police.
"Last night, a Russian UAV struck a private house, causing a fire. Police, rescuers, medics, and other emergency services are actively working at the scene. Debris is being cleared, and the aftermath of the attack is being addressed," the police statement said.
According to a post by the State Emergency Service (SES) at 07:22, the fire in the residential building has been extinguished. The emergency services clarified that as a result of the drone attack, significant damage was caused to the private house. Additionally, a large area was affected by the fire.
"SES employees localized the fire, partially cleared the debris, and extinguished all hidden fire sources," the SES reported.
They also added that there was no information about casualties.
It is worth noting that on the night of February 6, Russian forces launched drone strikes on Kharkiv. In particular, the enemy damaged the city's largest market, Barabashova, as well as a transport company. A fire broke out at the market, and there were casualties.
