Russian drone attacks Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant again: IAEA reacts
The IAEA has received information from the ZNPP about today's Russian drone attack on the ZNPP training center located near the site.
"Reported explosion consistent with IAEA team’s observations. No direct threat to nuclear safety this time but latest incident again underlines extremely serious situation," the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi was quoted as saying.
The day before, it became known that the IAEA would hold a meeting over the drone strikes on the Zaporizhzhia NPP. It will be held on April 9.
Russian drone strikes on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
Russian drones attacked Europe's largest nuclear power plant on April 7, hitting one reactor building, the IAEA said, adding that nuclear safety was not affected. The IAEA did not assign blame for the attacks but demanded that they stop.
Rafael Grossi said such reckless attacks greatly increase the risk of a major nuclear accident and must be stopped immediately.
Energoatom said that Russia is manipulating the opinion of the IAEA and the international community, trying to accuse Ukraine of violating nuclear safety at Zaporizhzhia NPP.
Later, it became known that the IAEA would hold a meeting because of the drone strikes on the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
