Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kharkiv on the evening of June 28. The strike caused a fire, and at least one person was reportedly injured, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.

"Preliminary reports indicate an impact in the Kyivskyi district. A private home is on fire," Terekhov wrote at 8:28 PM Kyiv time.

A few minutes later, Syniehubov confirmed that a drone strike had caused the fire and that the roof of a private home was burning.

"Preliminarily, one person has been injured. Emergency services and medics are working at the scene," he added.

"According to updated information, there were no strikes in Kharkiv. Today, the suburbs were hit by enemy shelling," Terekhov wrote at 8:50 PM Kyiv time.

Kharkiv under attack

Earlier in the evening, Russian drones were spotted over Kharkiv and the surrounding region.

At approximately 7:38 PM, the first explosion was heard in the city, followed by several more.

Later, Terekhov said Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down a Russian attack drone over Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, there were no consequences. However, he warned that the Russian assault was still ongoing.
