Russian drone attack on Kharkiv: Strike and fire reported
Explosions were reported in Kharkiv overnight on March 2 during an air raid alert declared due to the threat of Russian occupiers using kamikaze drones, according to the Suspilne Kharkiv and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov's Telegram channel.
An explosion in the city was heard around midnight.
Additionally, reports from Kharkiv also mention a subsequent explosion sound, occurring a few minutes later.
Before this, the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had warned of the detection of the movement of enemy attack drones of the Shahed type in the direction of the city.
Military officials informed at 11:47 p.m. that two groups of Shaheds in this region continued their course towards Kharkiv and Chuguev. At 11:53 p.m., they reported that an enemy drone group was approaching Kharkiv from the north.
Russian air attack on Ukraine
Earlier, it was reported that in Ukraine on the evening of Friday, March 1, air raid signals were being sounded in various regions. The reason behind this was another air attack by Russian invaders who launched drones of the Shahed type.
Additionally, later on, the command of the Air Force warned of a ballistic threat from the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Consequences revealed
Later, the Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, reported the impact on the city due to an enemy attack using kamikaze drones.
"Enemy drones are attempting to attack Kharkiv. We have preliminary reports of a strike in one of the city's districts," he stated.
The mayor added that information about casualties and damage is being clarified.
"At the scene, there is a fire, and windows are shattered in nearby buildings. Relevant services are determining if there are casualties," he wrote on Telegram.
As reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, there are two car fires in the city as a result of an enemy drone attack.
"The occupiers launched drone strikes on the city of Kharkiv. At the moment, two cars are on fire," he informed.
The official added that relevant services are checking neighboring buildings for casualties.
