Overnight on September 13, a series of explosions was heard in the Russian city of Nizhnekamsk - local residents report drones flying overhead and air defense systems operating, according to the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+.

According to eyewitnesses, a whole wave of unmanned vehicles flew over Nizhnekamsk, after which explosions were heard in the city. Residents say the drones flew over residential areas, heading toward the industrial zone, which is commonly referred to in the city as "neftianka" (oil district).

This refers to one of three enterprises located nearby - the Nizhnekamsk Oil Refinery, the Nizhnekamskneftekhim chemical plant, or the TANEKO refinery.

All three were already hit last summer - in particular, explosions at these facilities were recorded in mid- and late August.

Nizhnekamsk hosts two key oil refining operations - TANEKO, which is part of the Tatneft structure, and TAIF-NK. Both enterprises are an important part of Russia's fuel infrastructure.

In late August, on the night of the 20th, drones attacked the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk; according to preliminary data, 12 people were killed as a result of the strike.
