Russian chemical giant crucial to war against Ukraine hit by drones

In the Perm Krai, drones struck a chemical giant that supplies Russia's military-industrial complex, according to the Telegram channel Exilenova+ and local public groups.
On the morning of September 11, Ukrainian drones attacked the Azot branch of JSC Uralchem in the city of Berezniki, Perm Krai.
What Azot produces
The facility is located on a site covering approximately 140 hectares. It comprises about 90 production buildings.
The plant specializes in the production of:
- Ammonia
- Nitric acid
- Ammonium nitrate
- Urea
- Nitrite-nitrate salts and other nitrogen-based chemical products.
Why plant is important to Russian military
The concentrated nitric acid produced by Uralchem is used in the manufacture of explosives.
Ammonia and nitric acid are also basic raw materials for the production of other types of nitrogen-based chemical products.
On the night of September 11, other regions of Russia were also targeted by drone strikes.
Volgograd, Kaspiysk, and Samara were attacked—in Volgograd, debris fell on the grounds of an industrial facility, and in Kaspiysk, according to preliminary reports, drones struck the port.
That same night, drones attacked Saratov—following the strikes, an oil refinery and an OZON marketplace warehouse caught fire in the city.
