Russian artillery strikes Donetsk region, hitting house and injuring teenager
Russians shelled the city of Hirnyk in the Donetsk region on the morning of January 3. Occupying forces targeted the city with artillery, hitting a residential building and injuring a teenager, according to the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
"At 07:30 AM, Russian forces launched artillery strikes on the city of Hirnyk. One of the shells hit a private house with a mother and her underage son in it. The 16-year-old teenager sustained bodily injuries," the authorities reported.
The boy was urgently hospitalized, where doctors diagnosed him with mine-explosive and cranial-cerebral injuries, concussion, and leg bruises. Private residential and farm buildings were also damaged by the explosions.

Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation is underway in a criminal case regarding the violation of laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On January 1, occupiers targeted Avdiivka in the Donetsk region with artillery, leading to the death of a woman in the hostile attack.
