Russian army has not captured Sudzha, fighting ongoing - Ukrainian official

The battle for Sudzha is ongoing, and reports of its capture by Russian forces are false, stated Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation.
According to Kovalenko, fighting continues in Russia’s Kursk region, including the direction of Sudzha.
He dismissed claims that Russian forces had taken control of Sudzha, stating that these reports do not reflect the current situation, as battles are still ongoing.
"Fighting in the Kursk region is ongoing, and battles in the direction of Sudzha continue as well. As of now, reports of Russian forces capturing Sudzha do not correspond to reality," he stated.
The situation in the Kursk region
Since summer, the Ukrainian military has been conducting an offensive in Russia's Kursk region. This, in particular, made it possible to protect the Sumy and Kharkiv regions from opening a new front.
However, not long ago, the Russian forces launched a counteroffensive in this area. Just this morning, it was reported that Russian troops are continuing their offensive on Sudzha in the Kursk region, seizing new territories. Geolocation footage confirms that the Russian army is advancing south of Sudzha.
