Russian and DPRK soldiers may launch offensive in Kursk region soon
Russian and North Korean troops are likely preparing for an offensive in the Kursk region, which could begin soon, according to Colonel Artem Kholodkevych, deputy commander of Ukraine's 61st Mechanized Brigade, in a comment to The New York Times.
Commenting on the situation in the Kursk region, he said that Ukrainian commanders warned about an attack soon. It may happen in the next few days.
Additionally, an unnamed Ukrainian officer told the NYT that a Ukrainian-Korean phrasebook has already been issued to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to encourage North Korean soldiers to surrender.
North Korean soldiers assisting Russia
Since the beginning of October, official information has emerged indicating that North Korea has sent its soldiers to Russia, where they began training at military bases in the Far East.
Some North Korean troops have already been transferred to the Kursk region, a move that Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate documented last week.
However, as stated today, October 28, by Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the North Operational and Tactical Group, Ukrainian defenders have not yet had combat contact with North Korean soldiers.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia would deploy North Korean soldiers against the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 27-28.
