Russia will not redeploy its troops from the Pokrovsk direction to strengthen defenses in the Kursk region. For the enemy, Pokrovsk is currently a priority target, states Roman Pohorilyi, co-founder of DeepState and military analyst, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

Pohorilyi noted that the Russians have many areas from which they can draw their forces.

According to Pohorilyi, the Russian army has made significant progress in the Pokrovsk direction, and they have "prospects and a favorable situation that they will utilize."

"Pokrovsk and Toretsk are extremely important targets for them, and they will not trade them off," Pohorilyi explained.

He reminded that the Russian troops have areas in the Robotyne region from which they have already redeployed certain units.

The enemy is also withdrawing units from the south, specifically from Krynky, as noted by the military analyst.

Pohorilyi added that a large number of Russian forces are concentrated in the Luhansk region. In particular, fighters in the area of Stelmakhivka have reported a decrease in the intensity of fighting.

"Even if they were to withdraw a brigade from Pokrovsk or Toretsk, no one would feel it… But they are not going to do this in the near future, as they are almost at Pokrovsk and are already entering Toretsk. They will continue to press, which is absolutely logical," he said.

The expert also added that the Russian forces will redeploy their units from the Belgorod region.

What preceded

It is worth noting that Ukrainian defenders have achieved significant successes in the Kursk region. In response, the Russian forces have begun redeploying their troops there to strengthen their defenses.

Just yesterday, Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, commented to RBC-Ukraine that the operation in the Kursk region has not yet fully played out its role.

He suggested that the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian territory could influence the situation in the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy has recently been advancing.
