Russia warns US against military intervention in Israel-Iran war

Russia is discouraging the US from direct intervention in the Israel-Iran war. "This would allegedly be a very dangerous step," said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova, Interfax reports.
"We would like to warn Washington against military intervention in a situation that would be an extremely dangerous step with truly unpredictable negative consequences," Zakharova said.
She also complained about Israeli airstrikes on nuclear facilities and sites in Iran, which "are under safeguards and are subject to IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) verification activities." According to her, Russia is calling on the Israeli leadership to stop such attacks.
"We are particularly concerned about the safety of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, where Russian specialists are involved in operations," Zakharova added.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson cynically stated that a ceasefire and restoration of peace between Israel and Iran are necessary, "which, in turn, would create the conditions for returning the situation to a negotiating track."
She once again reiterated Russia's intention to "act as a peacemaker."
Trump's statements
US President Donald Trump previously stated that he is considering possible assistance to Israel in its war with Iran, including potential strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
However, on June 18, the American leader did not give a direct answer when asked whether he plans to carry out strikes on Iran.
In response, Iran has already threatened that if the US launches attacks, it will target American military bases in the Middle East.
