Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of November 18

Ukrainian troops repelled 23 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka sector and continued assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 10 attacks on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Yesterday, the Russian occupiers conducted air attacks on Ukraine using Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Air defense destroyed 9 attack UAVs.
In addition, last night the enemy conducted another air attack on our country. An attack by a Shahed-136/131 UAV is underway. Information on the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
Over the last day, 67 combat engagements took place. In total, the enemy launched 1 missile and 37 air attacks, fired 41 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and localities.
Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
The following cities were hit by air attacks:
Kupiansk, in the Kharkiv region;
Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhayne in the Donetsk region;
Novodanylivka, in the Zaporizhzhia region;
Tyahynka, in the Kherson region.
More than 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
The situation on the frontlines
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia direction remains unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of our troops to the threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out attacks in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, where our troops repulsed four attacks.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful attacks north of Serebryanka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas of Vasyukivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka, Donetsk region.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in terms of manpower and equipment and consolidating their positions.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy continues to try to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting heavy losses on the aggressors.
The offensive of the occupants near Keramik, east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and south of Tonenke in the Donetsk region was unsuccessful. The Defense Forces repelled 23 attacks there.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian troops repelled 21 attacks.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful attacks south of Vodiane in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful attacks near Robotyne and west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region, where our defenders repelled 3 attacks.
Offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Ukrainian Armed Forces continued their offensive in the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses on the occupation forces in terms of personnel and equipment, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian servicemen are engaged in counter-battery combat, inflicting fire on the enemy's rear.
Marine units, together with other components of the Defense Forces, continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, where yesterday they repelled 12 enemy attacks. Our defenders are consolidating their positions and keeping the occupiers under fire.
Enemy losses
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 10 strikes on the personnel concentration areas and 2 strikes on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems.
The missile units hit 3 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, 6 artillery pieces, an air defense facility, a command and control center, and an ammunition depot.
As a reminder, the total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 316,760.
