Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of October 1

The Russians made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost ground in the area of Andriivka near Bakhmut. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue their advance on two fronts, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Over the course of a day, there were 30 clashes along the front line. During the night, the Russians launched another attack on Ukraine, using approximately 30 combat drones of the Shahed-136/131 type from the south, southeast, and north directions. Ukrainian forces destroyed 16 enemy drones.
In total, the enemy delivered 8 missile strikes and 72 aviation strikes, conducting 20 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launcher systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
The frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged. There are no significant signs of the formation of offensive groupings. Identified units of the Belarusian army are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains a military presence in border regions, continues shelling populated areas from Russian territory, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine.
The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas near the populated settlements of Hatysche and Zemlianky in the Kharkiv region. More than 35 populated areas experienced artillery and mortar shelling from the enemy, including Senkivka in the Chernihiv region, Stepne, Volodymyrivka, Khotin, Stepok, Pokrovka, Riasne in the Sumy region, as well as Odradne, Dvorichanske, and Krasne Pershe in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the adversary conducted an aerial strike in the vicinity of the populated settlement of Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. Areas of more than 10 populated settlements, including Novomlynsk, Lyman Pershyi, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack in the vicinity of the populated settlement of Makiivka in the Luhansk region. The adversary conducted aviation strikes in the areas near the populated settlements of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Nove, Terni, Spirne, Vyiimka, and Vesele in the Donetsk region.
More than 10 populated settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Viyimka, and Fedorivka in the Donetsk region, were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, the adversary made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions in the vicinity of Andriivka in the Donetsk region. They conducted aerial strikes in the areas near the populated settlements of Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region.
More than 20 populated settlements, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Kurdiumivka, Pivnichne, and New York in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Stepove, Avdiivka, and Vesele in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of the Avdiivka settlement in the Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling affected over 10 populated settlements, including Novoselivka, Stepove, Orlivka, Siverne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, during the day, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 8 attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of the Novomykhailivka settlement in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 populated settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, Paraskeviivka, Antonivka, and Katerynivka in the Donetsk region, were under the fire of the occupiers.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions. Occupiers carried out aviation strikes in the areas of the populated settlements of Zolota Niva and Staromayorske in the Donetsk region. More than 10 populated settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Novoukrainka, Novodonecke, Blahodatne, and Urozhainne in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian Forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the area of Novodarivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. The occupiers conducted aviation strikes in the vicinity of the settlement of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 30 populated settlements, including Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, and Novopavlivka in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of populated settlements such as Berislav, Kozatske, Olhivka, and Vysokoe in the Kherson region. Over 15 populated settlements, including Stanislav in the Kherson region, the city of Kherson, and Solonchaky in the Mykolaiv region, were targeted by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive
Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, conducting offensive (assault) actions on the Bakhmut front, inflicting casualties on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
Enemy losses
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces conducted 13 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
Rocket troops units hit an anti-aircraft missile system, a command post, an ammunition depot, and 16 artillery pieces of the enemy.
