Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of August 29

Heavy fighting continues along the entire front line. In the past 24 hours, there have been 32 combat clashes. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance in the direction of Melitopol and are consolidating their positions along the achieved front lines, states the Ukrainian General Staff on Facebook page.
Enemy attacks
During the past day, the enemy launched 8 missile strikes and 47 aerial attacks, conducting 39 shelling incidents with multiple rocket launcher systems on the positions of our troops and civilian areas.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings, schools, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.
The likelihood of missile and aerial strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
The frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Popivka, Slavhorod in the Sumy region, and Veterynarne in the Kharkiv region.
They carried out mortar and artillery shelling on over 25 populated areas, including Karpovychi, Kamian in Chernihiv region; Volfyno, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Obody, Seredyna-Buda, Novodmytrivka, Popivka, Stukalivka in Sumy region; and Mala Vovcha, Zybine, Okhrimivka, Vilkhuvatka, and Veterynarne in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Ivanivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy targeted the populated areas of Kyslivka, Kolodiazne, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Novoehorivka, Tverdokhlibove, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, as well as Torske and Spirne in the Donetsk region. More than 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Verkhniokamyanske, Torske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and New York in the Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas, including Pryvillia, Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Toretsk, and Druzhba in the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted an aerial strike in the area of Avdiivka and shelled the populated areas of Oleksandrivka, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Siverske, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region using artillery and mortars.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to deter the advance of Russian forces in the vicinity of Mariynka in the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an aerial strike in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Artillery shelling affected the populated areas of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, and Yelyzavetivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Vodyane, Novosilky, and Blahodatne in the Donetsk region. Populated areas such as Vuhledar, Vodyane, Maksymivka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Malaya Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 25 populated areas, including Novodarivka, Poltavka, Hulyaipilske, Pyatykhatky, Charivne, Mali Shcherbaky, Kamyanske, and Pivdennodonbaske in the Zaporizhzhia region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Mykolaivka and Olhivka in the Kherson region. Kherson, Sadove, Stanislav in the Kherson region, and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, consolidate their positions at the achieved frontlines, and conduct counter-battery measures.
Forced passportization
Russian occupiers continue the forced passportization of the population in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. In the town of Chaplynka, the occupation administration has informed local residents of the mandatory requirement to obtain Russian passports by September 1 of this year.
In case of non-compliance with this requirement, the occupiers threaten confiscation of immovable property. Additionally, since August 23 of this year, the occupiers have been conducting raids to evict citizens without registered places of residence and seize their property.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the aviation of the defense forces carried out 8 strikes on areas with personnel concentration, 1 on a command post, and 3 on anti-aircraft missile systems of the enemy.
Units of the missile forces and artillery struck 2 command posts, 1 anti-aircraft defense system, and 2 artillery systems at the enemy's firing positions during the day.
