Over the past day, January 8, there were 161 combat clashes on the front line. Russian troops are attacking in 10 directions, most of them in Pokrovsk and Huliaipole, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, Russian troops launched two missile and 30 air strikes with 3 missiles and 126 guided aerial bombs, launched 6,482 kamikaze drones, and carried out 4,042 shellings of Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas, including 160 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Russian air strikes were carried out, in particular, on the areas of the settlements of Yulivka, Rizdvianka, Hirke, Verkhnia Tersa, Liubytske, Dorozhnianka, and Zaliznychne in the Zaporizhzhia region; Zatoka in the Odesa region.
"Over the past day, the missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck two areas where enemy personnel were concentrated and one enemy UAV control point," the report says.
Directions
3 combat engagements took place in the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions over the past day. Russia carried out 122 shellings, including 9 with multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 6 Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Burhuvatka, Vilcha, and Fyholivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russia attacked 6 times yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian assaults in the direction of Kupiansk, Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, and Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 10 times, trying to break through Ukrainian defenses in the direction of the settlements of Drobysheve, Lyman, Stavy, and in the area of Novoselivka.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 Russian attacks near Siversk, Dronivka, and Fedorivka.
Russia did not conduct any offensive operations in the Kramatorsk direction.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russia carried out 18 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, and in the direction of Stepanivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 33 Russian assaults in the areas of the settlements of Nikanorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetsk, Filiya, and Dachne.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russia carried out 13 attacks yesterday in the areas of the settlements of Verbove, Vyshneve, Zlahoda, Rybne, Yehorivka, Sichneve, and in the directions of the settlements of Ivanivka and Oleksandrohrad.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 21 Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Solodke, Huliaipole, and in the area of Varvarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled a Russian attack in the area of Mali Shcherbaky over the past day.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian units repelled 3 Russian attacks in the direction of the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
According to Ukraine's General Staff, Russia has lost approximately 1,216,930 military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In particular, over the past day, Russian losses amounted to 1,030 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 5 Russian tanks, 8 armored combat vehicles, 18 artillery systems, 687 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, and 90 pieces of automotive equipment.
