The Defense Forces of Ukraine today, January 7, repelled numerous attacks by Russian forces. The fiercest fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions, according to a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on January 7, Ukrainian troops had repelled 255 combat engagements, preventing the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.
Over the course of the day, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 16 airstrikes, using two missiles and dropping 66 guided aerial bombs. The attacks also involved 2,353 kamikaze drones and 2,363 attacks targeted Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
In certain directions, the situation is as follows:
- Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions: 3 assault actions repelled; 64 shelling incidents, including 2 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
- Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction: 14 assaults in the areas of Vovchansk, Starytsia, Zelene, and others. One engagement is ongoing.
- Kupiansk direction: 12 attempted breakthroughs; 5 combat engagements are still ongoing.
- Lyman direction: 15 attacks; three engagements continue.
- Sloviansk direction: 5 assaults repelled near Siversk and Pazeno.
- Kramatorsk direction: 9 attacks in the areas of Vasiukivka, Minkivka, and Chasiv Yar.
- Kostiantynivka direction: 19 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units.
- Pokrovsk direction: 72 attacks; 165 Russian soldiers neutralized, including 128 killed; 2 tanks, 3 infantry fighting vehicles, 8 vehicles, 39 UAVs, and several fortifications destroyed.
- Oleksandrivka direction: 15 attempted breakthroughs.
- Huliaipole direction: 37 combat engagements; 8 are still ongoing.
- Orikhiv direction: 4 attacks on Stepnohirsk and Prymorske.
- Prydniprovskyi direction: 2 unsuccessful attacks on the Antonivskyi Bridge.
No significant changes have been recorded in the remaining sectors. Ukrainian troops continue a resolute defense and are inflicting serious losses on the enemy.
Since the beginning of 2026, Russian soldiers have intensified shelling and assault operations across all front-line directions in an attempt to breach Ukraine’s defenses.
The Defense Forces are consistently repelling these attacks, destroying enemy equipment, manpower, and drones.
Previous days have also been marked by a high intensity of combat operations, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Lyman directions.
Russian losses
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment, reflecting the intensity of the fighting and the gradual depletion of its military potential.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the total estimated losses of Russian forces amount to approximately 1,214,500 personnel. Over the past day alone, the enemy lost about 1,040 soldiers.
