Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 20

Over the past day, December 19, 165 combat engagements were recorded along the front line. Russian forces are attacking in 10 directions, with the heaviest fighting reported in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff reports that yesterday the invaders carried out three missile strikes and 55 airstrikes across Ukrainian territory, dropping 150 guided aerial bombs and launching four missiles.
In addition, Russian forces deployed 4,597 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,875 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas, including 96 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems.
The aggressor conducted airstrikes with guided bombs on populated areas, including Pidhavrylivka in Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as Huliaipole and Vozdvyzhivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over the past day, missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces hit a military equipment storage facility, two command posts, and another critical enemy target.
Situation by directions
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, eight combat engagements were recorded over the past day. The enemy also carried out 106 shelling attacks on Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas, including one strike using a multiple launch rocket system.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy launched ten assaults on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Vovchansk and Prylipka, as well as toward Izbytske.
In the Kupiansk direction, six enemy attacks were recorded. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled assault actions near Pishchane and toward Petropavlivka, Kupiansk, and Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 11 times, attempting to advance near Shandryholove and toward Drobyshcheve, Stavky, Novyi Myr, Druzhliubivka, and Lyman.
In the Sloviansk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions seven times in the areas of Serebrianka and Dronivka, as well as toward Platonivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no combat engagements were recorded.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 20 attacks near the settlements of Kleban-Byk, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Pleshchiivka, Novopavlivka, Ivanopillia, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 45 assault and offensive actions by the aggressor near the settlements of Rodynske, Zvirieve, Kotlyne, Udachne, Myrnohrad, Molodetske, Dachne, Filiia, as well as toward Novopidhhorodne, Nove Shakhove, Svitle, Hryshyne, and Novopavlivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions ten times near Pryvilne and Zlahoda, as well as toward Rybne, Oleksandrohrad, and Nove Zaporizhzhia.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russian forces launched 14 attacks on Ukrainian defensive positions near Huliaipole and toward Dobropillia.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy made two unsuccessful attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Prymorske and Plavni.
In the Prydniprovskyi directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions over the past day.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost approximately 1,195,620 troops.
Over the past day alone, Russian losses amounted to 1,090 personnel.
Ukrainian forces also destroyed one armored combat vehicle, 37 artillery systems, one multiple launch rocket system, 346 operational-tactical UAVs, one piece of special equipment, and 130 units of enemy automotive equipment.
