Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 8

As of 10:00 PM on 8 December, 131 combat engagements had taken place along the front line; the highest number of Russian attacks was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian forces' strikes
Russian forces carried out 44 airstrikes, dropping 111 guided bombs. In addition, they used 3,053 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,235 strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
Frontlines update
In the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, one combat engagement took place. Russian forces launched an airstrike, dropping three guided aerial bombs, and carried out more than one hundred strikes.
In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces attacked eight times in the areas of Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Odradne, and Dovhenke; one combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces made four attempts to advance toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, the Defence Forces repelled eight assault actions in the areas of Novovodyane, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, Drobysheve, and toward Lyman. Two engagements are still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Russian forces launched seven attacks in the areas of Yampil, Serebrianka, Dronivka, and Fedorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no offensive actions by Russian forces have been recorded at this time.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, 16 combat engagements took place. Russian forces attempted to storm Ukrainian positions near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces carried out 36 attacks throughout the day in the areas of Shakhove, Fedorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Novopavlivka. Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the pressure; in some locations, fighting is still ongoing.
"Today, in this direction, according to preliminary data, 84 occupiers have been neutralised, including 48 irreversibly. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed six vehicles, 12 unmanned aerial vehicles, and struck two artillery systems and 15 shelters used by Russian personnel," the report states.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks by Russian forces in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Verbove, Rybne, Krasnohirske, and Vyshneve.
In the Huliaipole direction, 14 combat engagements took place in the areas of Solodke, Pryvilne, Huliaipole, and toward the settlement of Pryluky.
In the Orikhiv direction, one combat engagement occurred during the day — Russian forces attempted to advance near Stepove.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, no combat engagements have been recorded at this time.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation were observed.
Losses of Russian army
Russian forces continue to suffer losses in battles against Ukraine. From 7 to 8 December alone, they lost another 810 soldiers. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 10 artillery systems, 47 vehicles, and 530 drones.
Overall, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia’s military losses have reached nearly 1.2 million personnel.
