Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 18

As of 04:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, there have been 79 combat engagements along the front. Most attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense took place in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the day, Russian artillery has struck border settlements. In particular, Bobylivka and Brusky in the Sumy region, as well as Khrinivka in the Chernihiv region, came under fire.
Situation on the fronts
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, two combat engagements took place. Russian soldiers also dropped four guided aerial bombs and carried out 78 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian forces and populated areas, including one using MLRS.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks near Vovchansk and toward Kolodiazne. Two engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian soldiers attempted four times to break through Ukrainian defenses near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Kupiansk.
In the Lyman direction, Russian soldiers carried out five attacks on the positions of Ukrainian forces near Korovii Yar, Stavky, Drobysheve, and Lyman. Two clashes are still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled one enemy attack. Russian troops were active near Serebrianka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian soldiers launched one unsuccessful attack toward Bondarne.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian soldiers conducted 12 assault actions near Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Kostiantynivka, Stepanivka and Sofiivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted 30 breakthroughs near Shakhove, Nove Shakhove, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Rivne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, and Dachne. The Defense Forces repelled 25 attacks. Fighting continues at five locations.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian soldiers tried to break through Ukrainian defenses near Zelenyi Hai, Sosnivka, Verbove, Oleksiivka, Pryvilne, Pavlivka, and Krasnohirske. Ukrainian defenders repelled nine assaults, and one engagement is still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, defenders repelled nine attacks by Russian soldiers near Dobropillia, Zelenyi Hai, Zatyshshia, and Vesele. Four clashes are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russian soldiers launched one unsuccessful attack on the positions of Ukrainian forces near Prymorske. Zaliznychne came under an airstrike with unguided missiles.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian soldiers made one unsuccessful attempt to approach the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
Russian losses
Yesterday, the Defense Forces’ aviation struck three areas where Russian personnel, weapons, and equipment were concentrated.
In total, Russian losses amounted to 960 personnel. Ukrainian fighters destroyed 13 artillery systems, an MLRS, an air-defense system, 294 operational-tactical drones, and 43 vehicles belonging to the Russian soldiers.
