Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 9

A total of 196 combat engagements were recorded along the entire front line over the past day, according to the General Staff.
Yesterday, the enemy launched one missile strike and 54 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, using 41 missiles and dropping 126 guided bombs. In addition, 5,276 kamikaze drones were employed, and 4,697 shellings of Ukrainian positions and settlements were recorded, more than a hundred of them from multiple launch rocket systems.
The aggressor carried out airstrikes, in particular, near the settlements of:
- Mykolaivka and Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region;
- Velykomykhailivka and Radisne in Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Solodke, Zaliznychne, Sofiivka, and Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region.
Situation on the fronts
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, 11 combat engagements were recorded over the past day. The enemy carried out 11 airstrikes, dropped a total of 23 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 169 attacks, including nine using multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, 19 combat clashes took place near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Synelnykove, and Tykhe, as well as toward the settlements of Dvorichanske and Kolodiazne.
In the Kupiansk direction, six enemy attacks were recorded during the day. Defense Forces repelled enemy assault actions toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked three times, attempting to advance near the settlements of Zarichne and Derylove and toward the settlement of Korovyn Yar.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy attacked Defense Forces positions 15 times near Yampol, Serebrianka, Dronivka, Vyimka, and Fedorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled an enemy assault near Zaliznianske.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy launched nine attacks near Yablunivka, Shcherbynivka, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 73 enemy attacks near the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Fedorivka, Nykanorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Promin, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zelene, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Kotliarivka, Orikhove, and Filiia.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Defense Forces repelled 18 enemy assaults near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Orestopil, Sosnivka, Vorone, Novomykolaivka, Pryvillia, and Krasnohirske.
In the Hulyaipole direction, ten combat engagements took place near the settlements of Uspenivka and Novouspenivske.
In the Orikhiv direction, two combat clashes occurred over the past day as the occupiers attempted to advance near Plavni.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian units repelled one enemy attack.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive group formation were detected.
Enemy losses
Ukrainian troops continue inflicting significant losses on the occupation forces in manpower and equipment, actively undermining the aggressor’s offensive potential in the rear.
Yesterday, missile and artillery units of the Defense Forces struck two areas of enemy manpower concentration.
Over the past day, Russian forces lost 970 personnel. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed five tanks, one armored fighting vehicle, 19 artillery systems, 440 operational-tactical UAVs, eight missiles, and 85 units of enemy automotive equipment.
