As of 10:00 PM Kyiv time on October 17, Ukrainian forces recorded 111 combat clashes over the past 24 hours. According to the General Staff, Russian forces made unsuccessful attempts to advance toward Antonivskyi Bridge, failing to break through Ukrainian defensive positions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of October 17: Russian forces launch 78 airstrikes and drop 154 guided bombs, 111 combat clashes recorded along the front
Throughout the day, Russian forces carried out 78 airstrikes, dropping 154 guided aerial bombs, and launched 3,292 Shahed-type kamikaze drones. In addition, Ukrainian positions and populated areas came under 3,834 strikes.
Frontlines update
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces made one unsuccessful attempt to advance toward Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanskyi directions, Ukrainian troops repelled two assaults. The Russian side also launched six airstrikes, dropped 14 guided bombs, and conducted 147 attacks, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces carried out 15 assaults near Vovchansk and toward the settlements of Bologivka, Kutkivka, Obukhivka, and Kolodiazne. Two engagements are ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops conducted offensive operations near Pishchane, Petropavlivka, and toward Kupiansk. Ukrainian defenders repelled six of seven attacks; one battle continues.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched 12 attacks near Hrekivka, Karpivka, Torske, Shandryholove, and Drobysheve, as well as toward Korovyi Yar. Two clashes remain in progress.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven assaults near Pereizne, Hryhorivka, Dronivka, and Yampil.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no offensive actions were recorded today.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces attempted 11 assaults near Torske, Shcherbynivka, Rusynyi Yar, and toward Kostiantynivka and Berestok.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 33 attempts to advance toward Ukrainian positions since morning, attacking near Shakhove, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Filiia, and toward Novopavlivka and Pokrovsk. Fighting continues in one location.
According to preliminary data, 56 Russian troops were neutralized on this front, including 41 killed in action. Ukrainian troops also destroyed one vehicle and 19 UAVs, and damaged a Russian drone control post.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces launched 12 assaults near Orestopil, Oleksandrohrad, Sichneve, Novomycolaivka, Novohrhyhorivka, Vesele, and Malynivka. One engagement continues.
In the Hulyaipole direction, no offensive actions were recorded today.
In the Orikhiv direction, supported by aviation, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions three times near Kamianske and Stepove.
No significant changes were reported in other directions.
Russian losses
Over the past 24 hours, from October 16 to 17, Russian forces lost 730 personnel, along with 35 artillery systems, 73 vehicles, and 588 drones destroyed.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, total Russian losses have exceeded 1.1 million personnel, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
