Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of Оctober 4

As of 10:00 PM Kyiv time on October 4, there were 143 combat clashes along the front. The highest number of engagements occurred in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the day, the Russian army carried out 57 airstrikes, dropping 119 guided bombs. In addition, they deployed 3,890 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,013 attacks on Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks, two of which are still ongoing. Since the start of the day, the enemy carried out seven airstrikes, dropped 20 guided bombs, and launched 154 shelling attacks, including nine from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces stopped 11 enemy attacks near Vovchansk and in the directions of Lyptsi, Synelnykove, Kolodyazne, and Kutkivka, with one attack still in progress.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops launched three offensive actions near Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and Stepova Novoselivka. Fighting continues.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 13 times near Shandryholove, Ridkodub, Serednie, Novoselivka, Torske, and toward Drobysheve.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled eight enemy attacks near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Siversk, and toward Yampil and Dronivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy conducted one unsuccessful attack near Predtechyne.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russians attacked Ukrainian positions ten times, focusing on Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Poltavka, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and toward Ivanopillia. Two clashes are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian units attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses 44 times near Volodymyrivka, Shakhove, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Rodynske, Zvirove, Nykonorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Filiia, and toward Myrnohrad. Clashes continue in two locations.
"Today, Ukrainian soldiers neutralized 126 Russian personnel in this direction, including 79 permanently. They also destroyed 33 UAVs, one vehicle, and hit seven enemy personnel shelters," the General Staff reports.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy launched 23 attacks near Sosnivka, Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, Sichneve, Yalta, Piddubne, Novomykolaivka, Ternove, Novovasylivka, Novohryhorivka, and Verbove, with two clashes still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy did not carry out any offensive actions but conducted an airstrike near Zaliznychne.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy launched one attack toward Novodanilivka and was repelled. They also conducted an airstrike near Stepove.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy attempted three times to breach Ukrainian defenses but was repelled. They also carried out an airstrike near Odradokamyanka.
In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.
Ukrainian forces' gains on the front
Earlier today, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Ukrainian army stabilized the situation near Yampil, close to Lyman in the Donetsk region.
In the Dobropillia direction, the Armed Forces are improving the effectiveness of strikes on enemy concentrations and destroying enemy logistics.
