Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of Оctober 2

Since the beginning of October 2, a total of 133 combat engagements have taken place across all directions. Russian forces are attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses near Pokrovsk, according to the Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the start of the day on October 2, Russian forces have carried out 47 airstrikes, dropped 115 guided aerial bombs, deployed 1,803 kamikaze drones, and launched over 3,000 artillery and mortar attacks against Ukrainian positions and settlements.
In the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks by Russian forces. Since the beginning of the day, Russian troops have launched four airstrikes, dropped eight guided bombs, and carried out 86 artillery strikes, including two salvos from multiple rocket launch systems.
In the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled eight assaults near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Kamyanka, and toward Kolodyazne and Novovasylivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces successfully stopped three attacks in the direction of Kupiansk and Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman direction, throughout the day, Russian forces attacked ten times near Kolodyazi, Shandryholove, Torske, Hrekivka, and toward Drobysheve, but all assaults were repelled.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled six attacks near Yampil, Serebrianka, and Ivano-Dariivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, two clashes were reported as Russian forces attempted to advance near Chasiv Yar and Predtechyne.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops attacked 13 times, focusing their assaults near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, Ivanopillia, Oleksandro-Kalynove, Rusyn Yar, and Poltavka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses 36 times near Volodymyrivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Molodetske, Horikhove, Novoukrainka, and toward Pokrovsk and Filiia.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders neutralized 114 Russian soldiers, 75 of whom were killed, and destroyed 13 drones and one artillery gun, while damaging two more guns and eight enemy shelters.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian forces attacked 28 times near Novokhatske, Komyshuvakha, Sosnivka, Novovasylivske, Sichneve, and Berezove.
In the Huliaipole direction, five engagements were recorded near Poltavka.
In the Orikhiv direction, there were three clashes as Russian forces attempted to advance near Pyatykhatky and Lobkove. Airstrikes targeted Malokaterynivka, Hryhorivka, and Novoukrainka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian units repelled four assaults toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.
Russian losses
According to the General Staff, between October 1 and 2, Russian forces lost 980 personnel, while Ukrainian troops destroyed 12 artillery systems and 29 vehicles.
Autumn-winter offensive outlook
The General Staff forecasts that Russian forces will continue concentrating efforts on the Pokrovsk and Dobropillia directions in the near future.
The situation remains most intense in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops hold significant numerical superiority and are conducting high-intensity offensive operations with support from aviation, artillery, and numerous attack drones.
Russian forces aim to capture Chasiv Yar and Toretsk, create conditions to encircle Kostiantynivka from the east, south, and west, and advance toward the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad urban area.
