Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 26

As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on September 26, there were 160 combat engagements on the frontlines over the course of the day. The heaviest fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, Toretsk, and Novopavlivka directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Over the course of the day, the Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 50 airstrikes, launched one rocket, and dropped 101 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the Russian army deployed 2,000 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,277 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled seven enemy assaults since the start of the day. The enemy also carried out seven airstrikes using 18 guided aerial bombs and conducted 126 attacks, including 12 with multiple rocket launchers.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions four times but was repelled near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, enemy units carried out two unsuccessful assaults, attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses near the villages of Pishchane and Novoselivka.
In the Lyman direction, since the start of the day, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 19 times near the villages of Karpivka, Kolodyazi, Shandryholove, Zarichne, Torske, and Derylove. Ukrainian defenders are currently repelling five of these attacks.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted to break through eight times near Hryhorivka and toward Dronivka. One attack is still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, six combat engagements were recorded, with enemy units trying to advance near Yampil and toward Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked defense positions 24 times. The Russian army concentrated its offensive efforts near the villages of Shcherbynivka, Kleban-Byk, Rusyn Yar, Sofiyivka, and Poltavka. One battle is ongoing.
Over the course of the day, in the Pokrovsk direction, Russian units attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses 43 times near the villages of Nikanorivka, Volodymyrivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horiakhove, Dachne, and toward Pokrovsk, Balahan, and Filiia. Four combat engagements are still ongoing.
"Defense forces are holding off enemy assaults, inflicting significant losses — today, 156 Russian soldiers were neutralized in this direction, 94 of them irreversibly. Our defenders destroyed nine vehicles, an artillery system, and 19 drones. Additionally, one artillery system and eight enemy positions were heavily damaged," the report states.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian units repelled 19 enemy attacks on our positions near the villages of Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sichneve, Sosnivka, Komyshuvakha, and Kalynivske, while six combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, our defenders stopped five enemy attempts to advance near the village of Poltavka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled two enemy attacks near the village of Kamianske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions four times toward the Antonivskyi Bridge but achieved no success.
Russian army losses
From September 25 to 26, the Russian forces lost an additional 940 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 14 artillery systems, 334 drones, and 82 vehicles.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army's losses have already exceeded 1.1 million personnel.
