Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 17

Over the past 24 hours, on September 17, there were 155 combat clashes on the front. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are repelling enemy attempts to advance into Ukrainian territory, inflicting fire damage on the aggressor, according to the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian General Staff.
Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 67 airstrikes, launched one rocket, and dropped 93 guided bombs. In addition, they deployed 1,876 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,219 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled eight enemy assault attempts since the start of the day. In addition, the enemy carried out eight airstrikes, dropping 21 guided bombs, and conducted 160 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 14 using multiple rocket launch systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy launched 11 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk, Odradne, and in the direction of Hryhorivka and Obukhivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out offensive actions near Boryvska Andriivka, Kindrashivka, Bohuslavka, and toward Kupiansk. Ukrainian troops successfully repelled five attacks.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian Defense Forces positions 15 times near Zarichne, Stavky, Torske, Novomykhailivka, Druzhliubivka, Shandryholove, Serednie, and Kolodiazi.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy assaults as the occupiers tried to advance near Hryhorivka, Dronivka, Vyimka, Fedorivka, and toward Yampil.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy made five unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and toward Nykyforivka.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched 13 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Katerynivka, Rusynyi Yar, Poltavka, and toward Mykolaipillia.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, Russian forces attempted 43 times to advance on Ukrainian positions. The enemy attacked near Volodymyrivka, Nikanorivka, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Novoekonomichne, Zvirove, Molodetske, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Promin, Novoukrainka, Nove Shakhove, and toward Pokrovsk.
“According to preliminary data, on September 17, 160 enemy soldiers were neutralized in this direction, including 97 permanently, and one was taken prisoner,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.
Ukrainian troops also destroyed five vehicles and 15 drones, while two vehicles and two motorcycles were damaged.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy made 16 attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses near Tolstyi, Piddubne, Voskresenka, Komyshuvakha, Novoheorhiivka, Olhivske, and Ivanivka.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions near Poltavka. The settlements of Zaliznychne and Rizdvyanka were hit by airstrikes.
In the Orikhiv direction, supported by aviation, the enemy launched three assaults near Kamianske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to approach Ukrainian defensive positions near the Antonivskyi Bridge and also carried out airstrikes on the areas of Antonivka and Inhulka.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,097,450 troops.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces suffered 1,020 casualties. On September 16, Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 5 tanks, 3 armored combat vehicles, 36 artillery systems, 360 drones, and other enemy equipment.
