Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 17

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 117 combat clashes on the front. The enemy has been most active in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, seven combat clashes with enemy forces occurred since the start of the day. In addition, the enemy carried out four airstrikes, dropping ten guided bombs, and conducted 119 shellings of the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, 13 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy attacks near the settlements of Vovchansk, Odradne, and in the direction of Hryhorivka and Obukhivka. Two combat clashes are ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces tried four times to break through Ukrainian defenses near the settlements of Borivska Andriivka, Bohuslavka, and in the direction of Kupiansk. One clash is still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army carried out eight attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Druzheliubivka, Shandryholove, Serednie, and Kolodiazi. One combat clash continues.
The Defense Forces repelled ten enemy attacks in the Siversk direction. The Russian army was active in the areas of Hryhorivka, Dronivka, Vyiimka, Fedorivka, and toward Yampil.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attempted four times to break through our defenders’ lines toward Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and in the direction of Nykyforivka.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted 12 assault actions near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Katerynivka, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka, and toward Mykolaipillia. Three combat clashes are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 38 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Nikanorivka, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Promin, Novoukrainka, Nove Shakhove, and toward Pokrovsk. The Defense Forces repelled 31 enemy attacks, and battles are still ongoing in seven locations.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy tried to break through the positions of Ukrainian troops near Piddubne, Voskresenka, Komyshuvakha, Novoheorhiivka, Olhivske, and Ivanivka. The Defense Forces repelled nine enemy assaults, and four combat clashes are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy attacked the defensive positions of Ukrainian troops near Poltavka. The settlements of Zaliznychne and Rizdvianka were hit by airstrikes.
In the Orikhiv direction, supported by aviation, the enemy advanced near Kamianske but had no success.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy made one failed attempt to approach Ukrainian positions near the Antonivskyi Bridge and also carried out airstrikes on the settlements of Antonivka and Inhulka.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,097,450 troops.
In particular, over the past day, Russian army losses amounted to 1,020 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed five tanks, three armored fighting vehicles, 36 artillery systems, 360 drones, and other enemy equipment yesterday.
