Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 8

On September 8, Russia carried out 158 attacks along different sections of the front, using missiles, air-dropped bombs, nearly two thousand kamikaze drones, and thousands of strikes, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On September 8, Russian forces carried out large-scale attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders and civilian settlements.
In total, 158 combat clashes took place. The occupiers launched 1 missile strike and 51 airstrikes, using 5 missiles and 95 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, Ukrainian forces repelled mass drone attacks: Russia deployed 1,952 strike UAVs and conducted 3,449 strike incidents.
Frontline updates
Pokrovsk direction – the heaviest fighting, with 45 Russian attacks recorded since morning in the areas of Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Promin, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, and others. Five clashes are still ongoing.
Ukrainian troops eliminated 137 occupiers, including 82 irreversibly.
Destroyed: 1 gun, 4 vehicles, 2 motorcycles, 12 UAVs, a satellite communication terminal, and 3 communication antennas.
Novopavlivka direction – 33 Russian attempts to break through, with 7 battles still ongoing near Zelenyi Hai, Maliivka, Novoehorivka, Zelenе Pole, Zaporizke, Olhivske, and Poltavka.
Lyman direction – 12 Russian assaults repelled near Kolodiazi, Novomykhailivka, Torske, and toward Shandryholove.
Siversk direction – 8 attacks near Hryhorivka, Yampil, Serebrianka, and Vyiimka, one battle still ongoing.
Kupiansk direction – 7 assaults near Myrne, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and toward Novoplatonivka, one clash continues.
Toretsk direction – 7 battles near Toretsk, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Katerynivka, and Poltavka, one still ongoing.
Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions – 4 clashes, 3 airstrikes, and 124 shellings, including 6 from MLRS.
Prydniprovskyi direction – 4 attacks repelled near the Antonivskyi Bridge, with additional airstrikes on Mykolaivka.
Southern Slobozhanskyi (Vovchansk) direction – 4 attacks.
Kramatorsk direction – 4 attempted breakthroughs near Minkivka, Stupochky, Bila Hora, and Bondarne.
Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions – no offensive actions recorded.
Additional details
Agents of the ATESH movement documented Russia transferring equipment to the front marked with Sever tactical signs. The convoy mainly consisted of cheap passenger cars, numerous trucks, and old Soviet-era UAZ loaves.
ISW assessments indicate that the Donetsk region will remain Russia’s key offensive focus this fall.
