Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 18

Over the past day, 182 combat clashes were recorded. The hottest area remains the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian soldiers repelled 58 enemy assault attacks, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces carried out 4 missile and 80 air strikes, using 4 missiles and dropping 152 guided bombs. Russian troops also deployed 5,132 kamikaze drones and conducted 5,173 shellings, 73 of them with MLRS.
Airstrikes affected, among other places, the areas of Krasnyi Khutir in the Chernihiv region, Romashkove in the Sumy region, Novodanylivka, Zaliznychne, and Novoiakovlivka in Zaporizhzhia, as well as Olhivka, Kherson, and Dniprovske in the Kherson region.
In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile troops, and artillery struck 10 areas of enemy personnel and equipment concentration, three artillery systems, and three command posts.
Situation at fronts
In the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, four combat clashes occurred over the past day. The enemy carried out 10 airstrikes, using 26 guided bombs, and conducted 227 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas, nine of them with MLRS.
In the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attempted 13 assaults on Defense Forces positions near Vovchansk and in the directions of Khatne and Odradne.
In the Kupiansk direction, 12 enemy attacks were recorded. Ukrainian defenders repelled assaults near Zapadne, Kindrashivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, and in the directions of Kupiansk and Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops carried out 21 attacks, attempting to advance in the areas of Hrekivka, Karpivka, Ridkodub, Hryhorivka, as well as in the directions of Drobysheve, Yampil, and Kolodiazi.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled five enemy assaults in the areas of Hryhorivka, Fedorivka, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, five combat clashes occurred. The invaders attacked in the directions of Predtechyne, Oleksandro-Shultyno, and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy assaulted Ukraine’s Defense Forces positions nine times in the areas of Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and in the directions of Oleksandro-Shultyno, Pleshchiivka, and Rusynyi Yar.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 58 enemy offensive and assault actions near Poltavka, Vilne, Novyi Shakhovyi, Zapovidne, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Novoukrainka, Lysivka, Zviriv, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, and in the directions of Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Molodetske.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 28 Russian attacks in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Tolstyi, Oleksandrohrad, Voskresenka, Maliivka, Vilne Pole, and Temyrivka.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy carried out no offensive actions.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully attempted to advance near Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces made four futile attempts to approach Ukrainian positions.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.
Russian military losses
Over the past day, Russian forces’ losses totaled 940 military personnel.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed two tanks, five armored combat vehicles, 43 artillery systems, one MLRS, 157 operational-tactical level drones, and 116 units of enemy equipment
