As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on August 5, a total of 113 combat engagements took place along the front line throughout the day. The heaviest fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka directions, according to a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy attacks

Over the day, Russian forces launched two missile strikes and 87 airstrikes, using two missiles and dropping 119 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they deployed 1,531 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,108 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.

Frontline situation

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian troops repelled 10 enemy assault attempts since the beginning of the day. The enemy also carried out 17 airstrikes, dropping 34 guided bombs, and conducted 263 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including 16 using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy launched five assaults on our positions near Vovchansk and Fiholivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army carried out offensive actions in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Zahryzove.
Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched 19 attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces near the settlements of Olhivka, Novyi Myr, Hlushchenkove, Torske, Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, Kolodiazi, and toward Cherneshchyna, Serednie, and Shandryholove. Fighting continues in four locations.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy assaults — the Russian army attempted to advance near Hryhorivka and toward Siversk.

One enemy attack was repelled by our defenders near Chasiv Yar in the Kramatorsk direction.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched seven assaults on Ukrainian positions near Toretsk, Dyliyivka, and Shcherbynivka. The Defense Forces stopped all enemy attacks.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have attempted to advance 28 times against Ukrainian positions.
The enemy attacked near the settlements of Popiv Yar, Volodymyrivka, Boikivka, Suvorove, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Rodynske, Sukhetske, Promin, Molodetske, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoukrainka, Oleksiivka, and in the direction of Novopavlivka. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.

"According to preliminary data, today on this front, 97 enemy combatants were neutralized, of whom 65 were eliminated irreversibly. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed two vehicles, 10 drones, and one drone control antenna; three enemy artillery guns and one communication antenna were damaged," the report states.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attempted 11 times to break through the defense of our defenders near the settlements of Piddubne, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, Temyrivka, and in the direction of Ivanivka and Novoiivanivka. Fighting continues in four locations.

In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice near Stepove and Plavni.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled one enemy attack. Olhivka was struck by unguided aerial rockets.

In the other directions, there were no significant changes.

Russian army losses

From August 4 to 5, the Russian forces lost an additional 1,120 soldiers on the front. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 28 artillery systems, 169 drones, and 93 vehicles.

It should be noted that since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army's losses have already exceeded 1 million personnel (killed and wounded).
