Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 23

Over the past 24 hours, 142 combat clashes were recorded along the entire front line. Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy's attacks with resilience, inflicting heavy losses on the invaders, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the General Staff, yesterday the enemy launched 4 missile strikes and 63 airstrikes, using 10 missiles and dropping 76 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian troops conducted 6,132 shellings, including 118 with MLRS and deployed 3,416 kamikaze drones.
The aggressor carried out airstrikes, in particular, on the following populated areas:
- Yastrubyne, Nova Sich, and Sadky in the Sumy region;
- Prykolotne in the Kharkiv region;
- Myrne in the Donetsk region;
- Kamianske and Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region;
- Mykolaivka in the Kherson region.
Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 enemy attacks. Russian troops also launched 10 airstrikes, using 17 guided bombs, and carried out 257 shelling attacks, 8 of which were with MLRS.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy tried seven times to break through Ukrainian defensive lines near Vovchansk, Stroivka, and Fyholivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, there were three enemy assaults yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian attacks near Stepova Novoselivka, Zelenyi Hai, and toward Holubivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked 17 times, attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses near Novyi Myr, Karpivka, Ridkodub, Tverdokhlibove, and Kolodiazi.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy made four attempts to advance near Hryhorivka and Ivano-Darivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops launched six attacks near Chasiv Yar and toward Predtechyne and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out 21 assaults in the areas of Dyliivka, Toretsk, Leonidivka, Rusyn Yar, and Yablunivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 44 enemy assaults near Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Myrne, Promin, Novoserhiivka, Udachne, Kotliarivka, Muravka, and Oleksiivka.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy launched 10 attacks near Vesele, Shevchenko, Bahatyr, and Vilne Pole.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops made one attempt to advance toward Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy made two unsuccessful attempts to attack Ukrainian positions.
In the Huliaipole direction, no combat clashes were recorded.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there are no signs of enemy offensive group formations.
Russian losses
Ukrainian troops are inflicting significant losses on the Russian forces in manpower and equipment, actively undermining their offensive potential in the rear.
Over the past 24 hours, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck:
- 6 areas of enemy personnel, weapons, and equipment concentration;
- 2 artillery systems;
- 1 air defense unit.
In total, Russian forces lost 1,010 military personnel over the past day. Ukrainian troops also destroyed:
- 1 tank;
- 5 armored fighting vehicles;
- 58 artillery systems;
- 2 MLRS;
- 138 UAVs;
- 127 enemy vehicles and fuel tanks.
