Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 15

According to the General Staff, the enemy continues to shell the Ukrainian border areas. Today, communities in the settlements of Baranivka, Chuikivka, Porozok, Prokhody, Dmytrivka, Novodmytrivka, and Ponomarenky in the Sumy region came under fire from Russian artillery and mortars.

Most active front directions

On the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army made 27 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Novoserhiyivka, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, as well as toward Zoria and Stara Mykolaiivka.

The Defense Forces are holding back the pressure and have repelled 19 enemy attacks, while eight combat clashes are still ongoing.

On the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attempted 11 times to break through Ukrainian defenses near the settlements of Bahatyr, Kostiantynopil, Pryvilne, and Vilne Pole. Seven clashes are still underway. The settlements of Novopil, Novodarivka, and Temyrivka were hit by airstrikes.

Situation in other front directions

• Lyman direction: Over the day, Russian forces launched eight attacks on Ukrainian positions near Ridkodub, Kolodiazi, and toward Novoplatonivka, Novyi Myr, and Zelena Dolyna. Two clashes are still ongoing.

• Kharkiv direction: Ukrainian forces repelled five enemy attacks near Vovchansk, Hlyboke, and in the direction of Vysoka Yaruha and Kudiivka.

• Kramatorsk direction: The Russian army attempted four assaults on Ukrainian positions near Chasiv Yar and Kurdiumivka. Two battles are still underway.

• Kupiansk direction: Ukrainian defenders are repelling two assaults toward Pishchane and near Kruhliakivka.

• Toretsk direction: Ukrainian forces repelled one enemy assault near Toretsk.

• Siversk direction: Russian troops are probing for weak points in Ukrainian defenses near Bilohorivka, Hryhorivka, and Verkhnokamianske. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled two out of three attacks; one battle is ongoing.

• Orikhiv direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy assaults near Mali Shcherbaky and Stepove. Novoiakovlivka and Mali Shcherbaky were hit by airstrikes.

• Huliaipole direction: The enemy launched unguided aerial rocket attacks on Vysoke. No offensive actions were recorded on this axis.

• Prydniprovskyi direction: No enemy offensive actions were recorded, but an airstrike targeted Kozatske.

• Kursk direction: Since the beginning of the day, there have been eight combat clashes, four of which are still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy carried out four airstrikes, dropping seven guided bombs, and launched 123 artillery attacks.

• Other directions: No significant changes reported.

Russian losses in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost approximately 970,590 troops in Ukraine. Just in the past day, from May 14 to 15, the Russian army lost 1,220 soldiers on the front line.

In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed:

• 1 helicopter

• 8 tanks

• 13 armored fighting vehicles

• 45 artillery systems

• 140 operational-tactical UAVs belonging to the Russian army.
