Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 23

Russian forces are not ceasing attempts to break through defenses near Pokrovsk. The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled over 50 enemy assaults there, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
There were 144 combat clashes on the front over the past day.
The enemy continues to massively use aviation and drones: 125 airstrikes were recorded, with 242 guided aerial bombs dropped, as well as 6,019 shellings, including 150 from multiple rocket launch systems.
Russian occupiers also used about 2,800 kamikaze drones.
The aggressor carried out airstrikes, in particular on the areas of the settlements of Boyaro-Lezhachi, Petrushivka, Uhroidy, Myropilske, Prokhody in Sumy region; Pokrovsk, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Sukhyi Yar, Zorya, Vodyane, Hrodivka, Krasnyi Yar, Oleksiivka, Novopavlivka, Bahatyr, Novopil, Oleksandro-Kalynove, Yablunivka, Yalta in Donetsk region; Biliakivka in Dnipropetrovsk region; Zaporizhzhia, Huliaipole, Novodarivka, Lobkove, Kamianske, Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region; Ivanivka in Kherson region.
"Over the past day, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck 19 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, four artillery systems, an air defense unit, and a command post of the enemy," reported the General Staff.
Situation by directions
Kharkiv direction. The enemy attempted to break through near Vovchansk four times, but all attacks were repelled.

Kupiansk direction. Three assault attempts in the areas of Zahryzove and Nova Kruhliakivka ended unsuccessfully for the Russian invaders.
Lyman direction. Russian troops carried out 14 attacks – in the areas of Kolodiazi, Nadiia, Novomykhailivka, and toward Olhivka, Hlushchenkove, and Novoserhiivka.
Siversk direction. Three breakthrough attempts in the areas of Hryhorivka and Verkhniokamianske were stopped.
Kramatorsk direction. Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks near Stupochky, Bila Hora, and toward Maiske.
Toretsk direction. Thirteen attacks were recorded in the areas of Dachne, Druzhba, Toretsk, and toward Shcherbynivka.
Pokrovsk direction. The hottest spot on the front – 53 assault actions in the areas of Berezivka, Kotliarivka, Preobrazhenka, Vodyane Druhe, Malynivka, Udachne, and a number of other settlements.
Novopavlivka direction. Seventeen attacks in the areas of Kostiantynopil, Pryvilne, Novosilka, and also toward Oleksiivka and Odradne.
Orikhiv direction. Five Russian assaults in the areas of Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, and Piatykhatky.
Huliaipole and Prydniprovsk directions. The enemy did not conduct active combat operations.
Volyn and Polissia directions. No signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were recorded.

Kursk region. Ukrainian defenders continue operations in the border areas of Russia. Over the day, the enemy launched 15 airstrikes and carried out 344 shellings, seven of them from MLRS. Ukrainian forces repelled twenty-two enemy attacks.
Russian losses
The losses of the Russian invaders over the past day amounted to 1,210 personnel. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed eight enemy tanks, 11 armored combat vehicles, 85 artillery systems, one MLRS, an air defense system, 138 operational-tactical UAVs, 163 vehicles, and one piece of special equipment of the occupiers.
