Russia's losses in Ukraine as of April 23: Over 1,200 troops

Over the past day, Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminated another 1,210 Russian invaders and destroyed 8 tanks, 85 artillery systems, and 1 enemy air defense system, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to April 23, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 944,270 (+1,210) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 10,691 (+8);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 22,307 (+11);
- artillery systems - 26,774 (+85);
- MLRS - 1,368 (+1);
- anti-aircraft systems - 1,141 (+1);
- aircraft - 370;
- helicopters - 335;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 33,526 (+138);
- cruise missiles - 3,148;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 45,621 (+163);
- special equipment - 3,860 (+1).
Situation on frontline
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their evening update on April 22, there had been 118 combat clashes on the frontline since the start of the day.
Ukraine's Defense Forces also noted that Russian troops continued their most intense assault operations in the Pokrovsk direction.
Furthermore, a new report released by experts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on April 23, mentioned that Ukrainian defenders might have advanced in the Novopavlivka direction near Troitske in the Luhansk region. Meanwhile, Russian invaders made advances near Toretsk in the Donetsk region and in the Kursk region.
