Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 22

As of April 22, there have been 118 combat engagements along the frontline, with Russian forces intensifying pressure in the Pokrovsk direction, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the day, 118 combat encounters have occurred. Russia launched 83 airstrikes and dropped 170 guided aerial bombs (KABs). Additionally, they used 1,159 kamikaze drones and carried out 4,231 artillery attacks on settlements and Ukrainian military positions.
In the Kharkiv direction, Russia attempted to breach Ukrainian defensive lines four times near Vovchansk. At the same time, they launched an airstrike on the area near Lyptsi.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two attacks near Zahryzivka and Nova Kruhlyakivka, and one more clash is ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces successfully stopped seven attacks in the regions of Nadiya, Novomykhailivka, and in the directions of Ohlivka, Hlushchenkove, and Novoserhiyivka. Two more clashes are ongoing.
In the Siversky direction, Russia conducted three offensive operations in the areas of Hryhorivka and Verkhnokam'yans'ke.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces stopped three attempts to advance in the regions of Stupochky, Bila Hora, and towards Maiisky.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched 13 assaults on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Dachne, Druzhba, Toretsk, and in the direction of Shcherbynivka. Ukrainian forces firmly held their ground and repelled all enemy attacks.
In the Pokrovsk direction, they conducted 42 offensive actions in various regions, including Preobrazhenka, Novoukrainka, Shevchenko, Vodyane Druhe, Malynivka, Yelyzavitivka, Lysyivka, Udachne, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiivka, Troitske, Andriivka, and also in the directions of Novopavlivka, Romanivka, Stara Mykolaivka, Myroliubivka, and Novomykolaivka. Four clashes are still ongoing. Russia also carried out airstrikes on the settlements of Pokrovsk, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Sukhy Yar, Zorya, Vodyane, Hrodivka, Krasnyi Yar, Bilakivka, Oleksiivka, and Novopavlivka.
In this direction, Ukrainian forces eliminated 118 soldiers and wounded 95 more. They also destroyed 3 vehicles, 9 motorcycles, 2 UAV control points, 1 lightly armored tractor, 12 UAVs of various types, and 2 satellite communication terminals. Additionally, two vehicles, one tank, and three artillery systems of the Russian forces were significantly damaged.
In the Novopavlivsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 15 attacks near Kostyantynopil, Pryvilne, Novosilka, and in the direction of Oleksiivka and Odradne. At the same time, the enemy carried out an airstrike on the settlement of Bakhatyr.
In the Huliaipilske direction, the enemy attempted to advance twice towards Novopil, but both attempts were successfully repelled by Ukrainian defenders. Airstrikes were carried out on the settlements of Huliaipole, Novodaryvka, and Novopil.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy conducted four offensive actions near Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, and Piatykhatky. One clash is still ongoing. At the same time, the enemy launched airstrikes on the settlements of Lobbkove, Kamianske, Stepnohirs'k, and Zaporizhzhia.
In the Prydnipropetrovskyi direction, Russia carried out an airstrike with unguided missiles in the area of Ivanivka. No offensive operations were conducted.
In the Kursk direction, there were 21 combat encounters. They launched 17 airstrikes, dropping 46 guided bombs on settlements and positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Furthermore, 290 artillery attacks were carried out, including 5 from multiple rocket launcher systems.
Russian losses in war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost more than 943,000 soldiers.
In the past 24 hours, Russia lost 1,130 soldiers. Additionally, Ukrainian forces destroyed 4 tanks, 19 armored combat vehicles, 26 artillery systems, and other military equipment of the Russian forces.
