Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 19

As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on April 19, a total of 107 combat engagements have occurred on the front line since the beginning of the day. The highest number of clashes was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, according to a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shellong
Today, the enemy carried out 95 airstrikes, using 155 guided aerial bombs. The Russian army also deployed 1,096 kamikaze drones and launched 4,627 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 36 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Sukha Balka, Tarasivka, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novooleksandrivka, Preobrazhenka, Sribne, Bohdanivka, Troitske, Novotoretske, Svyrydonivka, Malynivka, Shevchenko, Zvirove, Uspenivka, Kotliarivka, Andriivka, and toward Stara Mykolaivka.
"According to preliminary data, 165 Russian soldiers were eliminated in this direction, including 91 irreversibly. Ukrainian forces also destroyed three satellite communication terminals, ten vehicles, three motorcycles, two generators, and one UAV control center. Another satellite communication terminal and one enemy vehicle were damaged," the report states.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions twice in the areas of Vovchansk and Mala Shapkivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, there were seven offensive actions near Zahryzove, Kindrashivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Petropavlivka.
In the Lyman direction, 14 enemy attacks were recorded near Novomykhailivka, Nove, Yampolivka, as well as toward Torske, Hrekivka, Hlushchenkove, Olhivka, and Zelena Dolyna.
In the Siversk direction, the Russian army launched two assaults on our positions near Verkhniokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk direction, seven attacks were recorded in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Kurdiumivka.
In the Toretsk direction, there were 18 combat engagements in the areas of Toretsk, Druzhba, Dachne, and toward Diliivka.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled ten attacks in the areas of Pryvilne, Novosilka, and Kostiantynopol.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Russian army carried out airstrikes on the settlements of Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Zelene Pole, and Novodarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, three attacks were repelled toward Mala Tokmachka and near Novoandriivka. Airstrikes targeted Lukyanivske, Pavlivka, Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, and Novoiakovlivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
In the Kursk region, Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled 18 enemy attacks. The enemy also launched 15 airstrikes using 25 guided aerial bombs and carried out 328 artillery attacks, including eight with multiple launch rocket systems.
Ceasefire in Ukraine
Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter ceasefire, which is supposedly in effect from 6:00 p.m. Kyiv time on April 19 until midnight on April 21. According to him, he ordered a halt to all combat operations.
However, the General Staff’s report does not mention anything about a ceasefire. Ukrainian officials, for their part, have stated that Russia did not cease hostilities everywhere as it had promised.
