Over the past day, February 16, 129 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian occupants took place at the frontline. Most of the fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk sector, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian strikes
Over the past day, Russia launched 2 missile and 95 air strikes at Ukrainian military positions and populated areas. The Russians used 5 missiles and dropped 141 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, Russian occupiers carried out over 5,500 attacks, including 124 from multiple launch rocket systems. Russian troops also launched 2,932 kamikaze drones.
Russia carried out air strikes near the settlements of Oleksandrivka, Sumy region, Huliaipole, and Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia region.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled 2 Russian attacks in the direction of Vovchansk yesterday.
In the Kupiansk sector, 16 combat engagements took place near Petropavlivka, Zahryzove, Bohuslava, and Pishchane.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 13 Russian attacks. Russians concentrated their main efforts in the areas of Novoserhiivka, Novoiehorivka, Novoplatonivka, Novoliubivka, Nove, Novomykhailivka, Yampolivka, Kolodiazh and Dronivka.
In the Siversk sector, near Hryhorivka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled a Russian attack.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 8 Russian attempts to advance near Chasiv Yar and Vasiukivka.
In the Toretsk sector, Russia tried to advance 8 times in the areas of Krymske and Toretsk.
The Pokrovsk sector was the most active, with the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelling 40 Russian attacks over the last day. Russian troops were most active near the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Pishchane, Udachne, Uspenivka, Nadiivka, Oleksiivka, Andriivka, Dachne and Ulakly.
In the Novopavlivka sector, in the areas of Kostiantynopil, Burlatske, Novoocheretuvate, and Novosilka, Russians tried to break through Ukrainian defenses 18 times.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russians conducted 6 assaults on Ukrainian troops' positions in the areas of Novoandriivka, Piatykhatky, Shcherbaky, and Mali Shcherbaky.
In the Prydniprovskyi and Huliaipole sectors, Russians did not conduct any active operations yesterday.
In the Kursk sector, Russia conducted 9 assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops yesterday, launching 51 air strikes. In addition, it dropped 80 unmanned aerial vehicles and fired 495 times at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remained unchanged. No Russian offensive groups were detected.
On February 15, 261 combat engagements took place at the front. This number was more than twice as high as on February 14.
