As of 10 p.m., January 26, 153 combat engagements took place at the front since the beginning of the day. Almost half of the fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, where the Russian army tried to intensify attacks, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russian shelling
Today, the Russians carried out 31 airstrikes, using 41 guided bombs, and nearly seven hundred kamikaze drones, and fired almost 4,000 times at Ukrainian troops' positions and localities using various types of weapons.
The situation at the frontlines
In the Kharkiv direction, there were four clashes with Russian invaders near Vovchansk, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled three attacks, and one battle is ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russians tried 11 times to force Ukrainian units out of their positions near Stepova Novoselivka, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka, and Zahryzove, all attacks were repelled. The Russian aircraft attacked Kupiansk, Kucherivka, and Petropavlivka with guided aerial bombs.
The Russian army attacked fifteen times in the Lyman direction, trying to advance in the areas of Hrekivka, Novoyehorivka, Nadiya, Zelenyi Hai, Makiivka, Yampolivka, and Torske. One battle is ongoing.
The invaders attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 21 times in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Bila Hora in the Kramatorsk direction, one firefight is still ongoing.
The Russian troops tried to break into the Ukrainian defense in the Toretsk direction eight times. They acted in the area of Toretsk, and all attacks were repelled. Konstantynivka, Katerynivka and Kleban-Byk came under enemy fire.
The Russian military is intensively attacking Ukrainian defenders in the Pokrovsk direction. During the day, they carried out 70 assault and offensive actions there. The Russians are most active in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Zelene, Udachne, Kotlynove, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Andriivka, Shevchenko, Dachne and Yantarne. Six firefights are still ongoing.
Three combat engagements continue in the Novopavlivka direction. In total, Russian proxies attempted to advance 11 times today in the vicinity of Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Rozdolne, Novosilka and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled one Russian attempt to advance toward Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovsky direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled one attack by Russian forces on Ukrainian troops' positions. The Russians were not successful.
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations in the Kursk region. Currently, there have been 21 air strikes involving 29 drones and 395 artillery attacks, and Ukrainian soldiers have repelled seven Russian attacks.
There were no significant changes in the situation in other sectors.
Over the last day, from January 25 to 26, the Russian army lost 1720 soldiers in the war against Ukraine. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion (February 24, 2022), Russia's losses amounted to 830,190 soldiers.
