Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 26
The situation at the front remains tense: almost a hundred combat engagements have been registered since the beginning of the day. The most intense fighting continues in the Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, and Lyman directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
As of 4 p.m., it is known that since the beginning of the day, the total number of combat clashes along the entire front line has increased to 99.
The Russian militants continue to use aviation, in particular drones, and carry out attacks. The defense forces are holding their lines and taking the necessary measures to prevent a breakthrough.
The Russians do not stop using artillery and aircraft on the territory of Ukraine. The area of Oleksandrivka, Sumy region, came under enemy fire.
The situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, three combat engagements took place in the vicinity of Vovchansk today, and one battle is ongoing.
Ukrainian troops repelled nine invaders' assaults near Stepova Novoselivka, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka and Zahryzove, two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army is attacking the areas of Hrekivka, Novoyehorivka, Nadiya, Zelenyi Hai, Makiivka, Yampolivka, and Torske. Since the beginning of the day, there have been 11 combat engagements in this direction, four of which are still ongoing.
Near Chasiv Yar, in the Kramatorsk direction, the Russians advanced on the positions of Ukrainian troops 13 times and also attacked in the direction of Bila Hora. 11 out of 14 combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, they attacked the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces eight times in the area of Toretsk, three firefights are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, fierce fighting is taking place in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Zelene, Udachne, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Andriivka, Shevchenko, Dachne and Yantarne.
So far, the Russian military has made 38 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions, and 30 attacks have been repelled.
In the Novopavlivka direction, seven firefights continue in the areas of Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Rozdolne, Novosilka, and Velyka Novosilka. Four Russian attacks have already been repelled by Ukrainian forces.
The Russians did not conduct any active operations in the Siversk, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovsky directions.
Five combat engagements took place in the Kursk direction today, the Russian forces dropped 24 guided bombs on the populated areas and positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and fired 266 artillery shells, including four from multiple rocket launchers.
As of the morning of January 26, the Russian army lost more than 1,700 soldiers in the last 24 hours. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, they has lost 830,190 soldiers.
More than 150 military clashes took place yesterday. The Pokrovsk direction was the most difficult - the Russian army carried out a third of the attacks there.
In addition, Russia launched a total of 32 airstrikes using 59 combat aircraft, over 650 attacks with attack drones, and fired over 4,000 times at Ukrainian troops' positions and Ukrainian settlements over the past day.
