As of 10 p.m. on January 19, 180 combat engagements took place at the frontline. Almost half of them took place in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Shelling and air attacks
Today, Russia-backed militants conducted 24 air strikes, dropped 34 guided bombs, used 961 kamikaze drones, and fired over four thousand times at Ukrainian settlements and positions.
The situation at the frontlines
The Russian army is intensifying attacks on Ukrainian troops in the Pokrovsk direction. They made 88 attacks during the day. The Russian militants are most active in the areas of Zelene Pole, Oleksandropil, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Shevchenko, Udachne, Uspenivka, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Novotroitske, Novoandriivka, Slovianka, Petropavlivka, Andriivka, Dachne, Ulakly and Yantarne. Ukrainian defenders are bravely holding the line, with five combat engagements so far.
"According to preliminary estimates, today in this direction our troops eliminated 150 militants and wounded 144. Seven vehicles, one armored combat vehicle, 5 satellite communications equipment were destroyed, an armored combat vehicle, a mortar, two portable electronic warfare stations, and a vehicle were significantly damaged," the statement said.
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian militants carried out air strikes near the towns of Vovchansk and Vovchanski Khutory and tried to break through the defensive lines of our defenders near Vovchansk three times.
Thirteen times the Russians attacked Ukrainian fortifications in the Kupiansk direction in the areas of Stroyivka, Pishchane, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, Kutkivka, Nova Kruhlyakivka and Lozova. One firefight is still ongoing.
Eighteen attacks were repelled by Ukrainian troops near Novoyehorivka, Nadiya, Novosergiivka, Pershotravneve, Zelenyi Hai, Makiivka, Novosadove, Zarichne, Kolodyazi, Zelena Dolyna, Terny and in Serebryanske forestry in the Lyman direction.
In the Siversk direction, the Russians conducted offensive actions in the areas of Ivano-Dariivka and Verkhnekamianske, repelling two attacks in total.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian militants repelled seven attempts by the invaders to advance near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russians stormed the positions of Ukrainian forces 19 times today in the areas of Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Shcherbynivka. Defense forces are steadily holding back the attack.
During the day, Russian troops carried out 13 attacks on Kostiantynopil and Velyka Novosilka in the Novopavlivka direction. Two firefights are still ongoing. The invaders conducted air strikes in the area of Novopil, dropping five guided bombs.
They did not conduct any active operations in the Huliaipole direction.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces once in the direction of Novoandriivka. They were unsuccessful.
In the Prydniprovsky direction, two Russian assaults failed.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 14 attacks by the Russian army. According to the updated information, the Russians conducted 12 air strikes during the day, dropped 16 guided bombs, and fired 416 artillery rounds, including six from multiple launch rocket systems.
There were no significant changes in the situation in other areas.
Yesterday, 199 combat engagements took place on the frontline. The Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped almost 100 in the vicinity of Pokrovsk.
