Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 17

During the past day, December 16, there were 245 combat clashes on the front lines, with the heaviest enemy pressure concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"Over the past day, the missile forces of the Defense Forces struck five areas of enemy personnel concentration and one more significant target of the Russian invaders," the General Staff stated.
Situation by directions
- Kharkiv direction: The enemy launched three attacks near Hlyboke and Kozacha Lopan.
- Kupiansk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled four Russian attacks near Kucherivka, Zahryzove, Lozova, and Petropavlivka.
- Lyman direction: The Defense Forces fought off 16 attacks focused near the settlements of Kopanky, Vyshneve, Novoyehorivka, Terny, Hryhorivka, and others.
- Siversk direction: The enemy carried out 16 attacks near Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske, Ivano-Daryine, and more. Four clashes are ongoing.
- Kramatorsk direction: Russian forces attempted to advance eight times near Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar, and Stupochky.
- Toretsk direction: Twelve attacks were repelled in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.
- Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled fifty-two enemy attacks. Russian forces were most active near Lysivka, Dachenske, Novyi Trud, Zelene, Novoolenivka, Pishchane, and Ukrayinka.
- Kurakhove direction: The enemy attacked 30 times near the settlements of Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove, and Yantarne.
- Vremivka direction: Twenty-two Russian attacks were stopped near Kostiantynopolske, Rozdolne, Novyi Komar, Neskuchne, Uspenivka, Sukhi Yaly, Blahodatne, Makarivka, and Novodarivka.
- Orikhiv direction: Russian forces attacked five times near Novoandriivka.
- Prydniprovske direction: Four attempts to capture Ukraine's Defense Forces' positions were thwarted.
- Kursk region: Ukrainian forces repelled sixty-eight enemy assaults.
Russian losses in war
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian losses have exceeded 765,000 military personnel. In the past day alone, the enemy lost 1,600 troops. Among the destroyed equipment, the Defense Forces reported:
- Four tanks;
- 15 armored combat vehicles;
- Eight artillery systems, and more.
