Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 12

For the second consecutive day, the number of Russian attacks on the frontline exceeds 200, with the fiercest fighting occurring in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"The situation on the front remains difficult. In total, 203 combat clashes were recorded over the past day," the statement says.
Over the past day, the missile forces and artillery of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck four Russian command points and four areas of concentrated enemy personnel.
Situation in specific directions
- Kharkiv direction: Russian terrorists unsuccessfully assaulted Ukrainian positions six times near the settlements of Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Starytsia, and Vovchansk.
- Kupiansk direction: The invaders launched 14 attacks throughout the day. Ukrainian forces repelled assaults near Zapadne, Pishchane, Lozova, and Zahryzove.
- Lyman direction: The enemy attacked Ukrainian defenders 30 times, attempting to breach defenses near Tverdokhlibove, Druzheliubivka, Novoyehorivka, Hrekivka, Makiivka, Terny, Torske, Hryhorivka, Kopanky, and the Serebriansky Forest.
- Siversk direction: Ukrainian forces repelled one Russian assault near the settlement of Verkhnokamianske.
- Kramatorsk direction: The enemy made two attempts to advance near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.
- Toretsk direction: Using guided aerial bombs, Russian forces launched five assaults on Ukrainian positions near Toretsk.
- Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian forces halted 40 enemy offensives. The aggressor actively used aviation, assaulting Ukrainian positions near Shevchenko, Pishchane, Novotroitske, Novooleksiivka, Novyi Trud, Dachenske, Lysivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, and Pokrovsk.
- Kurakhove direction: The Defense Forces repelled 49 attacks, with the Russian army concentrating its efforts near Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Dachenske, Zorya, Kurakhove, Dachne, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Hanivka, Antonivka, and Uspenivka.
- Vremivka direction: Russian forces conducted 29 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Trudove, Kostyantynopolske, Sukhi Yaly, Blahodatne, and Novodarivka, heavily relying on bomber aviation.
- Huliaipole direction: The enemy did not conduct offensive actions yesterday.
- Orikhiv direction: The occupiers attacked Ukrainian positions near Novoandriivka once.
- Prydniprovske direction: The invaders unsuccessfully tried five times to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions.
- Volyn and Polissia directions: There are no signs of enemy offensive group formations.
- Operational zone (Kursk region): The Defense Forces repelled 22 enemy attacks over the past day.
At the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy actively used artillery and aviation from Russian territory to target Ukrainian settlements.
Russian losses in Ukraine
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian military suffered 1,390 casualties. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 6 tanks, 28 armored combat vehicles, 5 artillery systems, two cruise missiles, 54 military vehicles, and a unit of special equipment.
