Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 1
As of 10:00 PM on December 1 (Kyiv time), 158 combat engagements occurred in the frontline since the beginning of the day. The largest number of engagements was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Russian forces carried out 18 airstrikes, deploying 28 guided aerial bombs, 698 kamikaze drones, and over 3,000 artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled ten attacks near Starytsia, Tykhe, Vovchansk, and Kozacha Lopan.
“According to preliminary estimates, the enemy lost 130 personnel killed and wounded in this direction today, and Ukrainian troops destroyed two tanks, six armored combat vehicles, 13 drones, eight vehicles, and one special equipment. Three tanks and four Russian vehicles sustained significant damage,” the General Staff informed.
In the Kupiansk direction, nine enemy assaults targeted Ukrainian positions, including four combat engagements near Lozova, Kruhliakivka, Hlushkivka, and Zelenyi Hai, which have since ended.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched eight assaults on Ukrainian positions near Druzheliubivka, Hrekivka, Hryhorivka, Terny, and Torske, all of which were repelled.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy did not conduct any active operations. Russian aviation struck three times at Siversk.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces failed to advance near Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, seven enemy assaults targeted areas near Toretsk and toward Shcherbynivka. Russian bombers actively operated near Kostiantynivka and Petrivka. One engagement is still ongoing in the area.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy conducted 33 daily assaults, focusing their efforts on areas near Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Zhovte, and Chumatske. Russian aviation struck populated areas, including Panteleimonivka, Hrodivka, Dacheske, and Novopustynka.
“According to preliminary estimates, today, our troops eliminated 173 and wounded 210 Russians in this direction. They destroyed a tank, three armored combat vehicles, three mortars, and seven vehicles, and damaged two artillery systems,” the statement said.
In the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces launched 48 attacks, with Ukrainian defenders repelling assaults near Berestky, Sontsivka, Zoria, Novodmytrivka, Kurakhove, Dalne, Yelyzavetivka, and Hannivka. An ongoing battle persists in the area. Russian troops dropped guided aerial bombs on Ulakly and Yelyzavetivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy attempted 24 assaults near Kostiantynopolske, Trudove, Velyka Novosilka, Novosilka, Novyi Komar, and Novodarivka. Ukrainian forces successfully thwarted these efforts, though one engagement continues.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, four Russian assaults failed to breach Ukrainian defenses.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 attacks, with one combat engagement ongoing.
No significant changes were observed on other frontlines.
"Today, we highlight the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers from the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade, the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade 'Edelweiss,’ the 38th Separate Marine Brigade, the 68th Separate Yeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush, and the 126th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, who are heroically holding back overwhelming enemy forces," the General Staff concluded.
Notably, on November 30, Ukrainian forces recorded 224 combat engagements across the frontlines, marking an increase in combat activity compared to previous days.
