Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 26

As of 16:00 on October 26, 90 combat engagements were registered in the frontline. The situation is the most complicated in the Pokrovsk sector, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Russians continue to use artillery and aircraft in Chernihiv and Sumy regions. The areas of Khrinivka, Oleksandrivka, Yablunivka, Basivka, Tymofiivka and Pokrovka came under enemy fire. Moreover, enemy aircraft conducted an air strike in the area of Khrapivshchyna, dropping two guided aerial bombs.
According to the available information, the enemy conducted 18 air strikes on the territory of the Kursk region, using 29 guided aerial bombs.
Situation at the frontlines
The General Staff also noted that the enemy continues to use aviation, including guided aerial bombs, and carry out attacks in almost all directions of the east and south of our country, especially in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions. However, the Defense Forces are holding the line and taking all necessary measures to prevent a breakthrough.
In particular, seven combat engagements took place in the Kharkiv direction today. Ukrainian troops repelled four Russian attacks in the areas of Vovchansk and Starytsia. Three more combat engagements near Starytsia are still ongoing.
Our troops repelled five assaults near Kindrashivka, Synkivka, Kruhliakivka, Berestove, and Pershotravneve in the Kupiansk direction. Three more firefights are taking place near Kruhliakivka and Kindrashivka. The enemy is actively using aviation. Pishchane, Hlushkivka, and Zahryzove were hit by guided bombs, and Berestove was also hit by unguided aerial missiles.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, is attacking in the areas of Hrekivka, Makiivka, Terny, Torske, Serebryanka, and Hryhorivka. In total, there have been 12 combat engagements in this sector since the beginning of the day, four of which are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked twice in the vicinity of Bilohorivka, and one combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our troops near Shcherbynivka six times. Three attacks have been repelled so far.
The situation is the most intense in the Pokrovsk direction. Fierce fighting is taking place in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Mykolaivka, and Selydove. So far, the enemy has made 20 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions, and 12 attacks have been repelled by our defenders. The enemy also dropped a bomb near Myrnohrad.
Eleven firefights continue in the Kurakhove direction in the areas of Izmailivka, Stepanivka, Novodmytrivka, Novoselydivka, Hostre, Dalne, Antonivka, Yelyzavetivka and Katerynivka. Seven enemy attacks have already been repelled by our defenders.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled an enemy attack near Novodanylivka. The invaders actively used aircraft in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Mali Shcherbaky.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, our defenders repelled four enemy attacks. The occupants launched an air strike on the town of Lvove using unguided aerial missiles.
Over the period from October 25 to October 26, the losses of Russian troops in the war against Ukraine amounted to 1690 soldiers. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 45 armored personnel carriers and 55 drones.
