Over the past day, 210 combat clashes took place. Ukrainian forces steadfastly hold their positions, inflicting significant losses on the enemy, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to updated information, yesterday Russian forces launched 62 airstrikes, dropping 113 guided aviation bombs and carrying out more than 4,060 shellings, 125 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems. The occupiers deployed around 1,450 kamikaze drones for their attacks.

The most intense shelling occurred in the areas of Myropillia, Pysarivka, Staryi Saltiv, Yampilivka, Lyman, Torske, Siversk, Chasiv Yar, Antonivka, Velyka Novosilka, and others.

In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck 20 areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated, as well as other key targets.

Key directions of combat:

  • In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to storm positions seven times.
  • In the Kupiansk direction, 19 enemy assaults occurred over the past day.
  • In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 21 times.
  • In the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers launched eight attacks.
  • In the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out eight attacks.
  • In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 50 enemy storm and offensive actions.
  • In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 47 attacks.
  • In the Vremivka direction, the enemy launched 11 assaults on Ukrainian positions.
  • In the Orikhiv direction, defenders repelled an enemy attack.
  • Five times, the invaders unsuccessfully tried to displace Ukrainian Defense Forces from their positions in the Prydniprovske direction.

An operation is ongoing in the Kursk region. The enemy’s aviation continues to level their own villages and cities. Over the past day, Russian aircraft carried out 31 airstrikes, dropping 58 guided aviation bombs on their own territory.

No signs of new enemy group formations have been detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.

The situation along the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions remains challenging, with the enemy actively using artillery and aviation to strike Ukrainian settlements.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend and deliver devastating blows to the enemy.

Russian losses

Over the past day, October 17, Russian forces lost 1,530 personnel. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia’s total personnel losses have amounted to 675,800.
