Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 6
Over the past day, 169 combat engagements were recorded along the front, as Russian forces continue their large-scale shelling of Ukrainian positions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to updated information, the aggressor launched 82 airstrikes, including the deployment of 130 guided aerial bombs (KAB), 1,410 kamikaze drones, and 5,130 artillery strikes, 144 of which involved multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Areas around Volfyne, Obody, Pavlivka, Kramatorsk, Myrnohrad, and Velyka Novosilka were among the hardest hit. Despite the intensity of attacks, Ukrainian forces are maintaining defensive lines and launching counteroffensives. Ukrainian aviation and artillery units managed to strike four areas of enemy troop and equipment concentration, two artillery installations, and three ammunition depots.
Operational front-line updates:
- Kharkiv direction: The enemy made six attempts to storm Ukrainian positions near Lyptsi, Vovchansk, and Starytsia.
- Kupiansk direction: Twenty-two attacks were launched by the enemy, supported by airstrikes. Ukrainian forces repelled assaults in areas like Lozova and Petropavlivka.
- Lyman direction: Ten attacks were carried out near Novosadove and Makiivka, with air support.
- Kramatorsk direction: The enemy attacked ten times around Stupochky, Chasiv Yar, and Hryhorivka.
- Toretsk direction: Fifteen attacks were recorded near Dachne and Toretsk.
- Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully stopped 30 enemy assaults, with the most intense fighting near Selydove and Krutyi Yar.
- Kurakhove direction: Ukrainian forces repelled 26 attacks, particularly active near Kostiantynivka and Tsukurine.
- Vremivka and Orikhiv directions: The enemy made several unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian positions.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there are no indications of the formation of offensive groups by the enemy. However, artillery and air strikes continue along the borders with Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
Operations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region are ongoing.
Russian losses
On October 5, Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated 1,250 Russian occupiers on the front. Additionally, 101 units of enemy automotive equipment and 55 artillery systems were destroyed.
