As of 16:00, September 28, the number of enemy attacks on the frontline since the beginning of the day has increased to 66. Russian troops are making the main efforts in the Pokrovsk sector, reports the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Enemy shelling

The General Staff noted that today the border areas of the Sumy region continue to suffer from Russian strikes. In particular, the Russians attacked the areas of Kucherivka, Bilokopytove, Studenka, and Yunakivka with 20 guided aerial bombs.

A number of localities in Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, including Bachivsk, Yizdetske, Baranivka, Pokrovka, Myropillia, Shalymivka, Porozok, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Vidrodzhenivske, Tymofiivka, Yanzhulivka and Mykhailove, were also hit by the artillery shelling.

The enemy also carried out ten air strikes, using 14 guided bombs in the Kursk region (Russia).

Situation at the frontlines

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units in the area of Tykhyi. The situation is under control. The enemy also attacked Shypuvate, Kharkiv region, with two air strikes.

The enemy attacked our positions in the Kupiansk direction four times. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks near Synkivka and Lozova. A battle continues near Tabaivka. The enemy is actively using bomber aircraft in the area, having already dropped 14 bombs today.

In the Lyman direction, enemy units attacked in the areas of Hrekivka, Nevske, Makiivka, Terny, Torske, and Bilohorivka. Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian troops have repelled eight attacks, four engagements are ongoing.

The enemy did not conduct any assault operations in the Siversk direction. He launched five air strikes on Siversk.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the invaders carried out five assault operations near Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, and Kurdyumivka. Four attacks are currently underway.

In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian defenders are repelling enemy attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Nelipivka.

The largest number of combat engagements was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction. Thus, since the beginning of the day, the Russians have already made 24 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the vicinity of seven different settlements. More than half of all the clashes took place near Selidove and Mykolaivka. The defense forces, restraining the enemy's onslaught, have already repelled a total of 20 enemy attacks in the area. Others are continuing. The enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower.

In the Kurakhove direction, the invaders attacked our units six times, trying to advance in the areas of Tsukuryne, Heorhiivka, and Katerynivka. A firefight is ongoing near Tsukuryne.

In the Vremivka direction, the invaders conducted ten attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions near Vuhledar, Vodiane, and Katerynivka. Six firefights are ongoing.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy is using attack aircraft, attacking the areas of Kamianske and Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to storm the positions of Ukrainian units. They attacked Dutchany, Havrylivka, and Sablukivka with guided missiles and shelled Lvove with unguided aerial missiles.

As of September 28, Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine exceeded 650,000 soldiers. The exact number is 650,640.

During the day, from September 27 to September 28, the enemy lost about 1470 soldiers. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 14 tanks, 42 armored personnel carriers, and 55 artillery systems.
