Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 23

As of 22:00 on September 23, there have been 125 combat engagements on the front lines since the beginning of the day. The situation remains tense in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia shells its own Kursk region
The General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operating in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, on this day, the enemy launched 10 airstrikes on the area using 14 guided bombs and carried out six attacks with multiple rocket launch systems.
Enemy shelling of Ukraine
Today, the terrorist state launched four missile strikes on Ukrainian territory using four missiles, and 55 airstrikes dropping 76 guided bombs. Additionally, the Russian army deployed 662 kamikaze drones for attacks and conducted over 3,800 shellings on Ukrainian military positions and settlements using various types of weapons.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces are attempting to push our units back in the areas of Lyptsi and Tykhe, where fighting is ongoing.
"Today, Ukrainian defenders in this area managed to eliminate and injure 47 Russian soldiers, destroy one tank, 13 artillery systems, 41 UAVs, four vehicles, and five units of specialized equipment," the General Staff reported.
The enemy launched seven attacks on our positions in the Kupiansk direction. Near the settlements of Hlushkivka, Kucherivka, Kolisnykivka, and Stelmakhivka, Defense Forces units repelled seven enemy offensive actions.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defenders 19 times throughout the day in the areas of Cherneshchyna, Druzhlyubivka, Nevske, Makiivka, Dibrova, Torske, and Dronivka. Fighting continues in two locations.
The enemy attempted to displace our defenders from their positions in the area of Fedorivka in the Siversk direction through an assault but was repelled, and the adversary achieved no success.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces successfully defended against four attempts by the Russian army to advance near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, and Predtechyne. The situation is under control.
In the Toretsk direction, where the Russian army, with air support, launched 15 attacks on our positions near Dachne, Toretsk, and Nelipivka, nine engagements have already concluded. Fighting continues near Toretsk.
The enemy is primarily focusing its efforts in the Pokrovsk direction. Throughout the day, the aggressor launched 30 attacks in the areas of Vozdvyzhenska, Marynivka, Myroliubivka, Novotoretsk, Mykolaivka, Novohrodivka, Zhuravka, Krasnyi Yar, and Zelene Pole.
"According to preliminary estimates, today the Russian army in this direction have lost over 220 servicemen killed and wounded, along with the destruction of four tanks, 12 vehicles, eight armored fighting vehicles, and six artillery systems," the report states.
In the Kurakhove direction, our defenders have repelled 21 enemy attempts to attack our positions at this time of day. The Russian army tried to advance near Tsukuryne, Hryhorivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka, and Ukrainsk. The fighting continues, with three engagements ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army attempted to storm the frontline eight times towards Pavlivka and Vuhledar. Ukrainian forces successfully halted five of the enemy’s attacks, while three are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, there was one unsuccessful engagement for the enemy near Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy conducted two failed assaults but was repelled.
