Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 22

Since the beginning of the day, as of 16:00 on September 22, 65 combat engagements were registered in the frontline. The enemy is most active in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia's shelling of its own Kursk region
According to available information, the enemy conducted ten air strikes on the territory of the Kursk region, using 12 guided bombs.

During the day, a number of settlements in Sumy and Chernihiv regions suffered from enemy terrorist attacks.
The enemy shelled Brusky, Malushyne, Pavlivka, Zhuravka, Velyka Pysarivka, and Boyaro-Lezhachi with artillery.
Esman, Bilovody, Zhuravka, Buvalyne, and Yastrubshchyna came under air strikes.
Situation at the frontlines
Two enemy attacks took place in the Kharkiv direction in the area of Vovchansk. The battle is ongoing. The situation is under control.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy tried to advance to our positions in the areas of Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka, Lozova, and Stelmakhivka during the day. Five enemy attacks are still ongoing. A total of ten firefights were registered in the sector. The Russian militants dropped a total of nine aerial bombs in the areas of Kupiansk, Kupiansk-Vuzlove, and Pershotravneve.
The Russians increased the number of attacks to five in the Lyman direction. Fighting took place near Cherneshchyna, Druzheliubivka, Novosadove, and Dibrova. Two firefights are ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy tried to break through our defenses in the area of Vyimka. The situation is under control. The enemy also launched air strikes with guided aerial bombs in the areas of Ivanivka, Sviato-Pokrovske, and Sloviansk.
In the Kramatorsk direction, our defenders continue to repel two attacks near Kalynivka and Klishchiivka. Five enemy attacks have already been stopped near Hryhorivka and Stupochky. The enemy used unguided aerial missiles at Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, the invader, supported by attack and bomber aircraft, attacked four times in the areas of Dachne, Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Nelipivka. The battle is ongoing near Toretsk.
The enemy is currently most active in the Pokrovsk direction. Clashes of varying intensity started 21 times today. Fighting is currently underway in six locations near Novotoretsk, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, and Marynivka. Russian aviation was firing unguided aerial missiles toward Oleksandropil during the day.
The situation remains difficult in the Kurakhove direction. Six assaults were repelled near Hirnyk, Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, and Katerynivka, and four firefights are ongoing near Kostiantynivka and Hirnyk.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy is attacking near Vuhledar and Vodiane, with four firefights currently underway. Enemy aircraft also struck near Bohoyavlenka, Urozhayne, and Rivnopil.
No actions of the Russians were registered in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions today. The enemy is conducting air strikes and artillery attacks on the positions of our troops and localities.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, our defenders repelled one enemy attack.
The General Staff added that Ukrainian troops are depleting the enemy along the entire frontline and in the rear.
Over the past day, from September 21 to September 22, the Russians lost 1,500 soldiers, 52 armored combat vehicles, and two multiple launch rocket systems in the fight against Ukraine.
