Since the beginning of the day on September 19, as of 22:00, 163 combat engagements have taken place along the front lines. The fiercest fighting today is in the Kurakhove direction, according to the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Throughout the day, Russian forces conducted 61 airstrikes on Ukrainian territory, deploying 88 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they launched 587 kamikaze drones and carried out over 3,500 attacks targeting Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy launched three assaults on our defensive positions near Vovchansk and Tykhe but failed to make any gains.

"According to available information, the enemy's losses in this area amounted to 72 personnel killed and wounded, with one artillery system, four vehicles, and 35 UAVs destroyed. Our forces also damaged two artillery systems and three vehicles belonging to the occupiers," the statement reads.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted 11 offensive assaults in the areas of Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, and Hlushkivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled nine attacks, with two more currently ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 28 times throughout the day near Makiivka, Cherneshchyna, Nevske, and Torske. The defense forces delivered a strong response to the Russian assaults, although one engagement is still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy faced setbacks during clashes near Verkhnokamianske, Ivano-Darivka, and Vyimka, with Ukrainian defenders repelling all seven attacks.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces halted two Russian offensive actions near Kurdiumivka and Ivanivske, maintaining control.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched 12 attacks on Ukrainian defense positions near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Nelipivka. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled the numerically superior enemy. The Russian forces heavily used aviation throughout the day, targeting areas around Druzhba, Kleban-Byk, Petrivka, and Katerynivka.

Since the beginning of the day, in the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses 36 times near the settlements of Vozdvyzhenka, Novotoretske, Hrodivka, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Novohrodivka, and Marynivka. Four of these assaults are still ongoing.

"The enemy is suffering significant losses - today, 248 Russian soldiers were neutralized in this direction, with 103 of them eliminated permanently. Additionally, two tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, two armored personnel carriers, three mortars, and six vehicles were destroyed. Another tank, a mortar, and three enemy vehicles were damaged," the General Staff reported.

The Kurakhove direction has seen the heaviest fighting today. With air support, the enemy launched 49 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Tsukuryne, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Katerynivka. According to updated information, 13 clashes are still ongoing.

In the Vremivka direction, the invaders carried out five offensive operations near Vuhledar, Rivnopil, and Katerynivka, using assault and bomber aircraft.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy is attempting to advance near Piatykhatky, Robotyne, and towards Novoandriivka and Novodanylivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled two assaults, while three clashes are still ongoing. The Russian forces carried out an airstrike on Kamianske.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces suffered a defeat while attacking Ukrainian defensive lines on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.

At the end of the report, the General Staff commended the soldiers of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade and the 425th Separate Assault Battalion Skala for effectively inflicting significant losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment.

Russia’s losses in the war against Ukraine amounted to 1,130 soldiers in the past day, from September 17 to 18. In addition, our forces destroyed 14 enemy tanks, 23 artillery systems, and 63 UAVs.
